FAQs

1- WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TAX RETURN INFORMATION IS ALREADY THERE?

If we have your documents already, we will process your return as soon as usual (we are working remotely).  We won’t be here for pick up, so we will be able to e-file your return but will not have your paper copies ready until we return. Because we are working remotely for the next 2 weeks, we will need to have the signed Form 8879 and the payment for services before we release the electronic filing.

  • If we have an email for you (and your spouse, if any) we will send a remote signature request to review the return and sign the Form 8879 to give us permission to electronically submit the tax return to IRS.

When you (or both of you) successfully sign the document, the system will notify me that you are good to go. (It also notifies me if there is a failure for one of you).

  • If we have one email only and you are married, we will send you a pdf of the Form 8879 which you can send back a copy using  your phone or a scanner.  Either email that signed document to 8879@wilcocpa.net or text to 440-227-2117. (don’t worry, your social security numbers will be masked)

** You can also give us an additional email address by emailing it to CPA@wilcocpa.net

  • If we do NOT have an email address, we will send via US Mail a paper 8879 to  you along with a return envelope which you can use to return the form to us when you (or both of you) have signed.

In addition to the permission to efile, we also needed a way for you to pay the fees for your return without having to come in, so we have set up options for electronic billing.In the same manner above, we will send an email or paper copy and you can either pay with a credit card, or direct deposit, or mail us a check.

2 -WHAT IF I NEED TO GET MY TAX INFORMATION TO YOU?

You have several options:

  • You can wait until we return to the office on April 6th* and bring it by personally. At this time waiting will not delay the processing of the return because we have two weeks’ work already in house

*We will update this information if we are required to close for an extended time

  • You can mail the information to us at:

  • If you use a private delivery service like FedEx or UPS send to:

  • Upload your information to our secure online portal:

In the upper right hand corner of the home page at www.wilcocpa.net, select the “Login” tab.

Once  you click it, select the option at the bottom where it says “Click here to Register”

When you fill out the information it will send us a request for access and we will get you set up.

Once you have your own online portal, you can drag and drop your scanned documents into the file and it will notify us that they are there.  (This is a more secure way for us to receive your information than regular email.)


3 - WHAT ABOUT THE DEADLINES?

The President and the IRS have agreed to extend the time to pay until June 15, 2020.  The filing deadline will remain at April 15, 2020, so we will extend the due date for filing using the Automatic Extension that is available to all filers. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SIGN OR PAY WITH THIS FORM.
